I can beat that. I got an A on a paper where I compared three books: Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Tess of the D’Urbervilles. I only read P&P all the way through. Tess I got about 20 pages into before I gave up, and Emma I didn’t even try to read.
How did I do it? I used the Cliff’s Notes to identify the parts of the books that made my point. Kind of a proto-Google.
I didn’t even read the Cliff Notes. 🙂 It’s weird, I have an English degree, but there are so many “great books” that I know only by reputation.
(the cut off part: I didn’t like at all what I did read of Frankenstein. So very dull.)
