Last top book of 2011

I spoke too soon when I wrote my original review of my favorite books from 2011! I ended up reading one more 5-star book. The Destiny of the Republic is the story of the assassination of President Garfield in 1881. Fascinating characters and great writing, although with some nauseating details. (The book I was reading at the time I originally posted, FWIW, was Inferno: good but not awesome.)

Also, this was the first Kindle book I checked out of the library and read on the Eee Transformer. It’s a significantly better reading experience versus the Overdrive app: generous margins, good line spacing, and I find the “sepia” easier on my eyes at night and on the bus.
